Creating alert, informed and active citizens

As part of the ACTiZENS’ Club activity on identi As part of the ACTiZENS’ Club activity on identifying civic issues, students from two government schools in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, took action on problems affecting their daily commute to school.

At Sanwarsi Government High School, students noticed that a damaged bridge made it unsafe to reach school, especially during the monsoon. They came together to write a letter to the local panchayat, seeking support.

At Government HSS Girls, Bhonrasa, students raised concerns about a poorly constructed kuccha road near their school, which became slippery and dangerous during the rains. They, too, wrote a letter highlighting the issue.

Impact: In both cases, the students’ letters led to timely action. Work on rebuilding the bridge began soon after, and the road near the school was properly constructed—making daily travel safer for everyone.
